What Is The Best Baby Swing For Your Little One?

Fisher-Price My Little Snugabunny Cradle 'n Swing
Fisher-Price My Little Snugabunny Cradle 'n Swing

What is the best baby swing? Well, that depends on a few factors. First and foremost, what kind of motions seem to soothe your baby most? Does your baby suffer from colic? Does your baby suffer from acid reflux? Maybe your baby would prefer rocking to swinging. Is your baby sensitive to visual stimulation? Maybe your baby would prefer a light show to say… a mobile that spins round and round. Do you have room for a full-sized baby swing? If not, perhaps the best baby swing for you would be a space saver swing, or a portable swing. Because there are so many different features to choose from, there are several swings that fit into the “best baby swing” category.

Graco Sweet Peace Newborn Soothing Center
Graco Sweet Peace Newborn Soothing Center

If you’re looking for more of an infant soother with several different motions, perhaps the best baby swing for your baby would be an infant soother like the Graco Sweet Peace.  This infant soothing center is designed to mimic a mothers natural movements. It offers 2 speeds of vibrations, high quality music and natures sounds, as well as low frequency white noise, like a mothers heartbeat. The Graco Sweet Peace is designed to hold a baby up to 25 pounds. As an added perk, the Graco Sweet Peace is also designed with a detachable seat, therefore making it possible to attach your Graco Car Seat.

If your little one suffers from colic, then the best baby swing for your baby may be a cradle swing with strong swing speeds. The My Little Snugabunny Cradle Swing offers 6 speeds, and gives you the option of either running it on 4 D batteries, or plugging it in to the wall. The Snugabunny Swing also offers both the side-to-side motion as well as the traditional head-to-toe motion. It comes with 8 different tunes, some to entertain and some to soothe, as well as 2 nature sounds.

Graco Lovin Hugs Swing
Graco Lovin Hugs Swing

If your baby suffers from reflux, perhaps the best baby swing for you would be one that offers a seat that sits more upright. For instance, most of the Fisher Price Cradle Swings offer 2 position reclines, some of which would be plenty to help with reflux, but when it comes to a seat with more reclining or sitting options, the Graco Lovin Hugs Swing comes to mind. This baby swing is a traditional baby swing, and does not offer the cradle swinging motion, but it does offer 4 reclining positions, an open top for easy access to Baby, and it comes with 10 classical songs and 5 nature songs. The Graco Lovin Hugs also offers 6 swing speeds. If reflux is a problem for your baby, then I would definitely recommend this swing as the best baby swing for your little one.

Fisher-Price Papasan Cradle Swing
Fisher-Price Papasan Cradle Swing

Perhaps the swinging motion alone won’t be enough to soother your little one. If that’s the case, then the best baby swing for your baby may be one with a motorized mobile. Visual stimulation can be extremely handy when it comes to lulling your baby off to sleep. Some babies prefer a mobile that spins on its own, while other babies prefer something with a bit more stimulation. For instance, the Fisher Price Papasan Cradle Swing offers an overhead light show that projects onto the surrounding canopy, as well as a motorized mobile that spins around in circles. It also comes with a snack tray, including a toy bead bar, as well as 16 different songs. The Papasan Cradle Swing also offers both the head-to-toe swinging motion and the side-to-side swinging motion, as well as 6 different speeds.

Maybe you live in a small apartment, or your space is limited somehow. Maybe you already have a full-sized baby swing and you’re looking for something you can take with you on the road, or to Grandma’s house. Perhaps a portable swing would be the best baby swing for your little one. The Bright Starts Comfort & Harmony Swing is half the size of a full-sized swing and it easily folds up for storage or travel. It also offers 6 swing speeds, a swing timer, 6 melodies, and 2 full body reclining positions.

Fisher Price Infant-To-Toddler Rocker
Fisher Price Infant-To-Toddler Rocker

Maybe your little one would prefer a rocking motion over a swinging motion. If that is the case, then perhaps the Fisher Price Infant-To-Toddler Rocker would be the best baby swing for your little one. With its maximum weight limit of 40 pounds, the Fisher Price Infant-To-Toddler Rocker will outlast any baby swing. It’s designed to grow with your baby, first through the infant and baby years, then through the toddler years, transforming into a rocker seat for toddlers all the way up to 40 pounds. It’s small size makes it extremely lightweight and portable. It comes with calming vibrations, a 2-position seat recline, and a machine washable seat pad. I feel it’s important to mention, this rocker is not motorized, so you do have to give it a gentle nudge to rock.

In conclusion, the best baby swing is not hard to find. It’s all about knowing your baby, and understanding what brings him/her the most comfort, aside from your warm embrace.

Best Baby Swings – Best Infant Soother, Cradle Swing, & Portable Swing

These are the best of the best, my personal favorite baby swings. I tried to pick one favorite from each category, including infant soothers, cradle swings, and portable swings. Now, I’ve seen a lot of different baby swings, and I’ve done a lot of research as well. I tried to decide which features were most important to me, toys vs. swing speeds, etc. I know there are plenty of you who will read this and disagree, I’m actually hoping some of you do, that way you can share your personal favorites. So please, leave a comment and tell us what you think the best baby swing is.

Best Infant Soother

Graco Sweet Peace Newborn Soothing Center
Graco Sweet Peace Newborn Soothing Center @ Amazon $166.23

The best infant soother would have to be the Graco Sweet Peace Newborn Soothing Center. It’s designed to mimic a mother natural movements, plus it offers calming white noise like a mothers heartbeat. I love that it offers so many different seating positions, and reclining positions, plus is has 2 speeds of vibrations to further soothe your little one. However, the best thing about the Graco Sweet Peace is the fact that you can fit a Graco Car Seat on it too. Let’s just say you and Baby come home from the grocery store, you have to put all the groceries away and Baby is currently asleep in her car seat. If you stop rocking it, she will wake up, so you attach the car seat to the Graco Soother, and WAHLA! Baby continues to sleep until all the groceries are put away.

Best Cradle Swing

Fisher-Price Papasan Cradle Swing
Fisher-Price Papasan Cradle Swing @ Amazon $99.00

The Best Cradle Swing was really tough. There are so many with so many wonderful features. Okay, I’ve got it. The Best Baby Cradle Swing, in my opinion, is the Fisher Price Papasan Cradle Swing. Again, I did not have this for my daughter, but she loves lights, and I know she would have been absolutely mesmerized by a light show and rotating mobile. Plus, it offers 16 different songs, and it has a removable tray with a toy bead bar. The Fisher Price Papasan Swing also offers 6 speeds, 2 reclining positions, and a canopy that actually reflects the above light show! That’s awesome!

Best Portable Swing

Bright Starts Ingenuity Portable Swing
Bright Starts Ingenuity Portable Swing @ Amazon $58.99

The Best Portable Baby Swing….another tough one. I’m stuck between the Fisher Price Space Saver Swing, and the Bright Starts Ingenuity Portable Swing. I love that the Fisher Price Space Saver Swing offers a seat lock that keeps it stationary, and I like the calming vibrations. However, the Bright Starts Ingenuity Portable Swing offers TrueSpeed technology, which basically means that it maintains swing speed settings regardless of the weight of your baby. Also, it has a swing timer with 3 settings, oh, and a removable headrest, foot pad, and infant side supports. Did I mention that it folds flat for storage or transport? Okay, I’m going to have to say that the Bright Starts Ingenuity Portable Baby Swing is the best portable baby swing, at least in my opinion.

Best Portable Baby Swing – Bright Starts Ingenuity & Fisher Price Rocker

Once again, I have mixed feelings. The Bright Starts Ingenuity and the Bright Starts Comfort & Harmony Portable Baby Swings had the highest customer satisfaction ratings, however the Bright Starts Comfort & Harmony was the best selling. The problem is that the Bright Starts Ingenuity is new to the market, and therefore does not have near the reviews that the Comfort & Harmony Swing does. Both Bright Starts Portable Baby Swings are very similar with only have a few differences. So, in the end I chose features over total reviews, therefore making the Bright Starts Ingenuity Portable Baby Swing the best. I also included a Fisher Price Infant To Toddler Rocker in this category, mainly because it is perhaps my favorite portable soother, but it’s not a swing, I’ll explain momentarily.

Bright Starts Ingenuity Portable Swing
Bright Starts Ingenuity Portable Swing @ Amazon

First, let’s take a look at the Bright Starts Ingenuity Portable Baby Swing. It offers 6 swing speeds, 2 reclining seat positions, and 6 melodies. The Bright Starts Ingenuity Swing also offers a handy swing timer with 3 settings, 15, 30, and 45 minutes. Plus, it comes with a removable head rest, foot pad, and infant side supports. All of these features are super nice, but my favorite feature is the TrueSpeed technology. This enables the Bright Starts Ingenuity Swing to maintain swing speed settings regardless of how heavy Baby is. Some swings slow down as Baby gets heavier, but not this one. In addition, the Bright Starts Ingenuity is also lightweight, and it folds flat, making it easier to store and easier to travel with. I love the fact that it’s so small, it takes up half the space of a full-sized swing, so if your house is cramped, this portable baby swing is perfect. Plus it’s only $59.00 at Amazon.

Fisher Price Infant-To-Toddler Rocker
Fisher Price Infant-To-Toddler Rocker @ Amazon

Now, the Fisher Price Infant To Toddler Rocker is probably my most favorite, mainly because it’s designed to grow with your child all the way through the toddler years. It offers 3 infant stages and 1 toddler stage. In the first stage the Fisher Price Rocker reclines back and offers calming vibrations. It also has a toy bar with hanging toys that provide visual stimulation for Baby. Now, I think it’s important to note, this is not an automatic rocker, it’s a manual rocker, so Mom has to give the little one a gentle push to get things going. I know, this might sound like a pain, but keep reading and you’ll understand my fascination with the Fisher Price Rocker. In stage 2 the toys from the toy bar can be attached to the seat itself, giving Baby the opportunity to have hands on entertainment. In stage 3 the toy bar can be reattached, the seat adjusts uprights, and Baby can bat and play with the toys. Another nice feature is the kickstand which can be unfolded at any time, providing a stationary seat for Baby, which can double as a vibrating seat. In the last stage, the toddler stage, the seat back adjusts up higher to support a toddler, and your little one can rock by themselves. It has a maximum weight capacity of 40 pounds, so this is probably the only infant soother that will be useful up to 3 or 4 years old. And, with a price as little as $42.99, you really can’t go wrong. It’s actually on sale at Amazon right now for $35.98, 16% off.

If either the Bright Starts Ingenuity Portable Baby Swing or the Fisher Price Infant To Toddler Rocker interests you, I encourage you to check out my full reviews listed below, including video demonstrations.

Best Cradle Swing – Snugabunny Swing or Papasan Swing

With so many options available, finding the best cradle swing is extremely difficult. I looked at a number of different things, including features, prices, and customer feedback. What I found was that two cradle swings is better than one. In other words, I couldn’t decide between the Fisher Price My Little Snugabunny Cradle Swing and the Fisher Price Papasan Cradle Swing, so I’ve decided to list them both. Let me explain why I think these two are the best cradle swings.

Fisher Price My Little Snugabunny Cradle Swing
Fisher Price My Little Snugabunny Cradle Swing

First of all, let’s take a look at the Fisher Price My Little Snugabunny Cradle Swing. This one had the highest customer satisfaction percentage. With 114 out of 131 reviewers rating it 4 to 5 stars, with 5 being the max. In other words, 87% were extremely satisfied. What I like most about the Snugabunny Cradle Swing is the nest like appearance. The seat is deep with extra soft fill, and it’s lined with micro fiber for superior comfort. It comes with removable infant side supports, runs on both batteries and an AC adapter, and offers a cute little motorized over-head mobile with hanging birdies and a dome mirror. All too often you get a great swing with a crappy mobile, and in this case, the mobile is perfect. The Snugabunny Swing also offers  2 reclining seat positions, 6 speeds, 8 melodies, and 2 nature sounds. Your little one can swing either side-to-side or head-to-toe. The Snugabunny Swing is also affordable, and it’s currently listed on Amazon for $126.98, that’s 23% off and a good deal.

Fisher Price Papasan Cradle Swing
Fisher Price Papasan Cradle Swing

My other pick for best cradle swing is the Fisher Price Papasan Cradle Swing. This one had the most customer reviews, so it seems to be the best selling. With 1190 reviewers out of 1452 rating it 4 to 5 stars, that’s 82% pure customer satisfaction. Let me quickly explain that anything in the 80’s percentage wise is really, really good. You very rarely see a baby swing with a higher percentage than 90%, that just goes to show that you can’t please everybody, and every baby is different. Some like to swing fast, others slow.  So when I say, 82% customer satisfaction, that means that 82% of the reviewers were extremely satisfied. Okay, let’s move on and examine the Papasan Cradle Swing. First of all, my absolute favorite feature is the over-head mobile. It’s a light show! The mobile rotates around with three hanging toys, and it has lights that actually reflect off the canopy that surrounds your little one. My daughter would have loved this! The Papasan Cradle Swing also runs on batteries or with an AC adapter. It offers a removable tray with a toy bead bar to further entertain your little one, plus it also offers 2 reclining positions. Baby can swing either head-to-toe, or side-to-side, and listen to 16 different melodies, both daytime and nighttime melodies.  The Papasan Cradle Swing also offers 6 speeds, and folds for storage. It’s not the least expensive of cradle swings, but I still think it’s priced really well for all that you get. It’s currently listed at Amazon for $149.99.

If you’re interested in either of these cradle swings, the Snugabunny or the Papasan, check out the full reviews listed below for more information.

Best Infant Soother – Graco Sweet Peace & Fisher Price Rock & Play Sleeper

Which is the best infant soother? Well it’s kind of a tough decision, but in the end I actually have two favorites. The Graco Sweet Peace Newborn Soothing Center, and the Fisher Price Rock & Play Sleeper.

Graco Sweet Peace Newborn Soothing Center - Vance
Graco Sweet Peace Newborn Soothing Center - Vance - @ Amazon for $157.19

The first one, the Graco Sweet Peace Soother is the best infant soother. It offers the most seating positions, and the most reclining positions, therefore offering the most swinging motions. It also offers two speeds of soothing vibrations, and white noise like a mother’s heart beat. The Graco Sweet Peace soother is designed to move, smell, look, and sound like a mother. I also love that it comes with an MP3 hookup for additional tunes. The Graco Sweet Peace will run on batteries and it also comes with an AC adapter. My absolute favorite feature though, is the fact that you can put a car seat on it. So, say for instance you come home and Baby is happily asleep in his/her car seat. You’d like Baby to get some more sleep, but you’d rather not have to drive around the block a hundred times. All you have to do is, simply remove the seat from the Graco Sweet Peace Soother, and clip on the Graco Car Seat. The Soother will work exactly the same way, and you didn’t have to disturb Baby by moving him/her over to the swing. It really is quite perfect.

Fisher Price Newborn Rock and Play Sleeper
Fisher Price Newborn Rock and Play Sleeper @ Amazon $45.00

The other favorite of mine is the Fisher Price Rock & Play Sleeper. Now, I originally listed it in the Infant Soother Category, which it is, but it’s more of a portable bassinet if you think about it. What I love most about the Rock & Play Sleeper is that it has a hammock style seat and a slight incline. So, in other words, Baby’s head stays elevated just slightly. It’s great for babies with reflux or colic. My daughter was colic, and she hated laying flat so I had to stack books under the front of her bassinet. The Fisher Price Rock & Play Sleeper would have been perfect. Plus it rocks, not automatically, but with a gently push from you. It’s also the perfect height to sit next to your bed, that way when Baby wakes up at night you can simply rock him/her back to sleep with one hand.  The sides are also ventilated and it collapses easily, with the push of a button. The Fisher Price Rock & Play Sleeper is lightweight and super portable. I didn’t have this when my daughter was little, but it will definitely be on my wish list for Baby #2.

If you’re interested in either the Graco Sweet Peace Newborn Soother or the Fisher Price Rock & Play Sleeper, I encourage you to read my full reviews listed below. Both reviews also include video demonstrations so that you can see exactly how each one works.

Rainforest Swing Vs. Snugabunny Swing – Cradle Swing Comparison

If you compare the Fisher Price Open Top Rainforest Cradle Swing with the Fisher Price My Little Snugabunny Cradle n Swing you’ll find several similarities, however, there are a few key differences that may help you decide.

Similarities:

Fisher-Price My Little Snugabunny Cradle 'n Swing
Fisher-Price My Little Snugabunny Cradle 'n Swing @ Amazon

Both the Snugabunny Swing and the Rainforest Swing offer two motions, side to side cradle, and head to toe swinging motions. Both cradle swings also offer a 2 position recline, 6 speeds, and a 3-point restraint for safety. Both the Rainforest Swing and the Snugabunny Swing are battery operational, and offer an AC adapter. Also, they both offer overhead toy mobiles with hanging toys that spin, removable and washable seat pads, have a maximum weight limit of 25 pounds, and fold for storage.

Fisher Price Open-Top Rainforest Cradle Swing
Fisher Price Open-Top Rainforest Cradle Swing @ Amazon

The only other difference is price. The Rainforest Swing lists for $144.99, whereas the Snugabunny Swing lists for $164.99. However, currently at Amazon.com, both cradle swings are on sale, the Rainforest Swing for $105.00, and the Snugabunny Swing for $126.97. So why is the Snugabunny more expensive? Well it could be that it’s a newer model, plus it offers a deeper seat with an extra soft fiber fill. Plus it also comes with a little toy bunny.

As for reviews, the Snugabunny Swing had less reviews, but with a better percentage of customer satisfaction. With 95 out of 109 reviewers rating it 4 to 5 stars, with 5 being the max. That’s 87% customer satisfaction. The Rainforest Swing did not do quite as well, with 170 out of 246 reviewers rating it 4 to 5 stars, that’s 70% customer satisfaction. The biggest complaints were about the swing speeds. A couple reviewers stated that the Snugabunny Swing was too fast, whereas the Rainforest Swing was too slow, and to some, also too loud.

Fisher Price Infant-To-Toddler Rocker - Princess Mouse Pink
Fisher Price Infant-To-Toddler Rocker - Princess Mouse Pink

The Fisher Price Infant-To-Toddler Rocker had awesome reviews. In fact, that’s what first caught my attention. 446 out of 533 reviewers rated it 4 to 5 stars, not only does that mean that people are buying it, but people really seem to love it. After reading through many of the reviews I found that most of the reviewers loved it so much they purchased an additional one for Grandma and Grandpa’s house. There were a few negative reviews, but after researching this product a bit more I realized that their problems were based off of improper usage. First of all, the Fisher Price Infant-To-Toddler Rocker comes with some guidelines which state “Use the upright position only when your child has developed enough upper body control to sit without leaning forward”. So, don’t put it in the upright position until your child is ready, or else the swing may tip over forward. Other than that, most absolutley loved it, and would recommend it to anyone. See for yourself what some of the reviewers are saying about their Fisher Price Infant-To-Toddler Rocker below.

Fisher Price Infant-To-Toddler Rocker
Fisher Price Infant-To-Toddler Rocker (Toddler Stage)

The best $30 we spent, August 18, 2011

By happymom,

We bought this chair when our baby was 10 days old. We have used it every day and she is now 5 months old. When she was tiny, it was a lovely safe place to put her down. She liked the vibrations and sometimes we would rock her with our foot. She would watch the butterflies and seemed stimulated by the mobile. By the time she was about two and a half months old she would kick her feet and make the mobile swing and the chair rock. Now at five months she is pulling the musical part of the mobile and playing the song. She rocks it on her own and seems indifferent about the vibrations.
I have taken this chair everywhere. It is great on vacation because she has a place to rest. We have taken it to family parties and when we put the kick stand out she naps in the chair. It is sturdy; it is constantly moving from the living room to the backyard in our house. It is easy to clean; the fabric comes off and is washable in the washing machine.
I highly recommend this chair. My husband and I keep telling people it was the best $30 we spent.

Used correctly, this seat is perfect!,

By S.Neary, (Florida)

I’ve been reading the reviews about people putting their babies in this in the rocking position, and that’s entirely too early for this feature to be used. The rocker part is for when the child is old enough to reach the floor with his/her own legs. You wouldn’t put a child in an adult rocking chair and you shouldn’t use the rocking feature of this chair for babies either. It’s for the toddler stage. I’ve had this rocker for 6+ years and none of my 3 children have ever fallen out because they’ve never been put in by themselves in the rocker mode.

I wish I could have given 10 stars!!,

By Jenn “Baileys Mommy” (Newark, DE USA)

I loooooooooove this chair! My daughter is now 2 and I have to say that I have probably used this chair everyday since she was born. As an infant chair, the soft vibrating action always kept her comfortable and calm. Never had an issue with the chair tipping when she got to be about 7 or 8 months, as i did with our “bouncer” chair. She uses the chair now in the rocking position as her everyday seat to put on her shoes, watch a movie or read a book. I would recommend this product to anyone who was looking for a vibrating chair for their baby. The fact that I know this is one item that I will be able to use for some time to come is just the icing on the cake! 10 stars for this one!!
